Holiday Card Mayhem

I don’t know many people who look forward to taking their children’s pictures for holiday cards. Every year I convince myself it will be a quick and easy photo shoot that will result in the perfect holiday photo. Also, every year I remember why I blocked out the horror of the previous years’ photo shoot!

What Type of Person are You?

We all take on the challenge in different ways. Are you the type who plans ahead with candy and prizes in exchange for a sweet smile? Do you fill yourself with “spirits” beforehand? Do you turn into a drill sergeant screaming until you get what you need? Do you threaten to cancel Christmas or other fun activities if they don’t cooperate?

Unreasonable Expectations!

Most of us likely start off with an easy going, “this is going to be fun” approach and end up becoming a parent we are not very proud of. Ultimately, I think that is perfectly ok! It’s part of the tradition after all, right?

Merry and Bright

I could fill many photo albums with just the outtakes of my 8 years of Christmas photos of my children. Having one child, two, three... it doesn’t matter. It's all the same chaos! Some of the best Christmas cards I've seen are when parents just say “screw it" and send a picture of their kid crying or doing something completely ridiculous, paired with a simple line to a sweet Christmas song. We do what we need to do to get those cards stamped and mailed before December 25th. I pour a little extra rum in my eggnog after that post office run!

The Ghosts of christmas past

I love photographing children for the holidays (especially other people’s children!). I find joy and lots of humor trying to capture this honored tradition. I enjoy looking at the cards from previous years to see how much things have changed. The puppies, the babies, the new homes, the transition from Santa believer to angsty adolescent. Although 2020 has taken many experiences from us, it can’t take away the magic of the holidays!
