Let's DIY It!
Jumping on the DIY Bandwagon
Do you watch DIY videos and have a mental list of all the projects you want to do in the future? So do we! Realistically most of our dream DIY projects will continue to taunt us through Pinterest, but not all of them! DIY is the latest verb we use in conversation. How many times have you heard someone say, “I DIYed it”? We’ve certainly said it.
Whimsical Exposures allows us to make our DIY dreams come true. It’s an important part of our work. Chrissy DIYs themed sets using a countless assortment of props and imagination. Many of her props are convertible. A lemonade stand in the summer becomes a kissing booth for Valentine’s Day. A pot of gold for St. Patrick’s Day becomes a witch’s cauldron for Halloween.
DIY projects aren’t limited to physical props and sets. Kelly DIYs digital sets for our composites too. When she couldn’t find the perfect witch’s dungeon, she made one! She now offers her digital backgrounds to other composite artists through Etsy!
Adding DIY to Your Day
Discovering ways to incorporate DIY into our professional life is so rewarding. It allows us to flex our creative muscles and work in an atmosphere we love, but it’s not limited to artistic-oriented professions. There are many ways you can add DIY to your day
DIY Your Workspace
One of the easiest ways to increase your job satisfaction is by creating an environment that you enjoy being in. Our friend Siobhan DIYed an office so special, many of her colleagues stop in just to destress! How can you feel stressed surrounded by colorful posters and giant unicorns?
Create Festive Spaces
A festive space can lift spirits. If possible, use seasonal decorations at the office. Find ways to highlight your colleagues by creating colorful birthday charts or displaying accomplishments. Make your department the envy of your organization!
One of the reasons we started a photography and graphic design business was our love of data visualization. Kelly has been dubbed the PowerPoint queen throughout her professional career. It’s easier to illustrate information to your colleagues when the material is visually engaging. DIYing your presentations is a great way to showcase your work. Your colleagues will take notice!
Whether it's with homeschooling or work, incorporating creativity can make seemingly mundane activities more cheerful. Now go out, and DIY through your day!
